Job Summary

Under general direction and supervision of up-line personnel, is responsible to operate and maintain a variety of light equipment and perform such duties as, but not limited to, maintaining grass areas, snow and ice removal, general cleanup, and other duties pertaining to the general maintenance of the project as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Operates a yard type or a variety of equipment including dump trucks, tractors, lawn mowers, woodchippers, leaf vacuums, leaf blowers, air compressors, chain saws, snow blowers, and other equipment, not requiring a CDL, used in the maintenance, construction, and development of public facilities.
  2. Cleans snow and ice from the streets.
  3. Performs pre-trip inspections and operator level maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment; makes minor operational and maintenance repairs and services equipment.
  4. Loads and unloads supplies and material.
  5. Maintains record of assignments, hours of operation, materials and supplies received and delivered, and other pertinent information relative to the equipment operator.
  6. When not engaged in Light Equipment Operator duties, performs general and manual labor as directed.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school graduate or equivalent or a minimum of four (4) years’ experience involving the operation and maintenance of light equipment.
  2. Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  4. Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.

The term “limited” means that the successful candidate will perform the job for an undetermined length of time. The position may or may not become permanent.
