Job Summary
The North Burial Ground hosts a significant number of mission-driven programs for the public around three programming pillars: arts & culture, the natural environment, and memorialization. The Seasonal Programming Coordinator works independently under the direction of the City Cemetery Director to plan, host, and promote all City Cemetery programming.
The ideal candidate is passionate about cemeteries and their potential as vibrant spaces, while maintaining a respect for the important role cemeteries play in the memorialization of the deceased and healing after a loss.
Not-to-exceed 28 hours a week at 23.00/hr with a flexible schedule to allow for evening and weekend programs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Works with the City Cemetery Director to iterate and grow current programs and partnerships, and develop new programs and partnerships.
- Directs other staff in implementation for major programs including coordinating scheduling and staffing of volunteers.
- Participates or leads the presentation of public programs.
- Collaborates closely with partners, other City departments, and organizers to ensure seamless delivery of programs.
- Develops program promotional materials for the public, including print assets, website, calendar listings, press releases and social media. Maintains mailing lists and prepares mailing materials related to programs and events. Conducts post-program analysis and collects public feedback.
- Leads the Tour Docent program and manages tour docent schedule.
- Prepares written materials necessary to support program activities.
- Assists with grant writing to support position and programming as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
1. A bachelor’s degree in in history, public history, anthropology, art or art history, ecology or a related discipline
2. Demonstrated experience conducting historical research in archives, libraries, or online
3. Demonstrated experience delivering mission-driven programming.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent organizational skills.
5. Availability to work weekends
6. Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
