Job Summary
The Supervisor – Commercial Services reports to the Meter Manager -Commercial Services and plans, organizes, implements, and manages the daily operations for the Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) program, leak detection program (MLOGS), large meter program, meter replacement program and performs other related duties as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, implements, and manages the daily operations for the AMR program, leak detection program MLOGS, large meter program and meter replacement program.
- Supervises personnel in the AMR, Meter, Billing, and Collection areas.
- Recommends improvements to the AMR system, quality of customer service and quantity of work production.
- Researches and recommends updated computer software and hardware upgrades related to the AMR and MLOG programs.
- Generates and reviews reports for AMR, leak detection and meter replacement programs.
- Coordinates the scheduling, testing and replacement of all water meters.
- Responds to public inquiries related to AMR technology, MLOG leak detections, meter installations, meter testing, billing practices, billing adjustments, and collection measures.
- Assists with the implementation of a real time wireless work order system.
- Responsible for coordinating, scheduling and dispatching all related work through the automated wireless work order system.
- Uploads and downloads meter reading cycle reports, programs and upgrades computer handheld equipment, and provides reporting measures specific to the AMR program.
- Responsible for coordinating all aspects of field personnel training.
- Works independently with minimal supervision.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree with 2 years water utility work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the Chief Engineer and General Manger.
- Minimum of two (2) year work experience in a water utility.
- Preferred A+ certification for computer hardware and software, with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Must possess experience and ability to research, evaluate, recommend, and maintain computer hardware and software.
- Must be proficient in Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft office, Open Office and Lawson.
- Knowledge of the Division of Public Utilities and Carriers rules and regulations.
- Some experience in AMR, billing and collection procedures.
- Familiarity with computerized billing systems is desirable.
- Ability to work with all department personnel in an effective, cooperative, and courteous manner.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast paced environment with minimal instruction or supervision; ability to supervise and train subordinate personnel.
- Excellent oral communications and writing skills.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
