Job Summary

Under general supervision of up-line personnel is responsible to keep all municipal parking meters in good operating condition including the making of repairs and adjustments to defective meters; and related work as required.

First shift 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Cleans and repairs defective municipal parking meters, removes defective coins and foreign objects, and replaces worn and/or defective parts of mechanisms.
  2. Responds to complaints regarding defective operation of municipal parking meters and makes remedial adjustments.
  3. Maintains, paints, and repairs meter posts and attachments.
  4. Keeps basic records of parking meter routes.
  5. Responsible for the collection and preparation for deposit of funds from parking meters.
  6. Operates card device for auditing collection from parking meters.
  7. Installs parking meters, single or multi-space.
  8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Working knowledge in the methods and materials used in repairing parking meter mechanisms.
  3. Some knowledge of the installation of electronic/” plug and play mechanisms”.
  4. Must be able to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions.
  5. Must be able to communicate effectively and courteously and establish working relationships with the public.
  6. Skill in the use and care of hand tools including hammer drill; ability to lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  7. Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
  8. Must possess a valid State Driver’s License.

The term “limited” means that the successful candidate will perform the job for an undetermined length of time. The position may or may not become permanent.
