Job Summary
Under general supervision of the City Assessor or designee performs responsible clerical work utilizing initiative and judgment in relatively routine assignments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responds to inquiries from the general public; answers all general correspondence from the general public.
- Answers phones and assists at the counter as needed.
- Assists motor vehicle appraiser with tax roll preparation. Including pricing, and data entry under supervision.
- Updates City Assessor’s webpage.
- Maintains a typical system of accounts requiring decisions of an advanced bookkeeping nature, inspects forms, and makes booking reports.
- Engages in typing, sorting, filing, or other routine work to ensure the adherence to procedures.
- Participates in typical clerical work involving the preparation, filing, or processing a large body of important documents or forms.
- Makes decisions within limits of general instructions and recommends changes in procedure and forms as needed.
- Gathers data pursuant to the Access to Public Records Act (“APRA”) requests to the department, and Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Knowledge of office procedures, practices, and Microsoft Office.
- Successful completion of Computer Training Level III course within six (6) months
- Must have data processing ability.
- Must have skill and accuracy in basic mathematics and bookkeeping entries.
- Working knowledge of Department procedures relative to State Law and City Ordinances.
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously.
- Ability to understand and carry out complex written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
- Must have data processing ability with a minimum of 42 words per minute.
