Job Summary
Under direct supervision of the Director of Public Property or designee is responsible for all land owned by the City that does not come under the jurisdiction of the Department of Parks, responsible for the overall supervision of the maintenance, planning design, construction, alterations, and repairs to all city property under the jurisdiction of the Department.
This position will be from 12pm – 8pm and may include unpaid overtime as necessary.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Makes recommendations of such rules, regulations, and performance standards necessary to carry out the responsibilities imposed upon the Department.
- Oversees mechanical systems throughout the buildings and monitors the BMS (Building Management Systems).
- Oversee the transfer of surplus supplies, materials, and equipment between City departments and agencies.
- Supervises Department personnel in performing custodial, maintenance, and repair functions.
- Oversee vendors assigned to perform maintenance and repairs to all City properties and buildings. Acts as a Project Manager for renovations and energy retrofits in City properties.
- Controls all central storerooms operated by the City.
- Assist the Director in supervising the staff of the Department office; supervise and control the use and operation of all printing and duplicating equipment.
- Assist the Director in maintaining the current inventory of all moveable equipment belonging to the City.
- Performs skilled work and other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent supplemented by some management training education.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in facilities management with knowledge of building automation systems and maintenance management systems.
- Experience relating to planning, development, and organizational operations.
- Experience in budget forecasting and/or budget administration.
- Knowledge of inventory control.
- Must communicate effectively and establish and maintain good relations with the general public, governmental agencies, community organizations, businesses, and industry.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
Training Requirements
Upon Appointment:
- Must gain a working knowledge of departmental technology, database systems, and Departmental-specific software through-on-the-job usage and training within six (6) months of appointment
- Completion of AIA Contract Document on Demand Training Course within six (6) months of appointment
- Customer Service Training
- Sexual Harassment, Sensitivity, and Diversity Training
Sustainment:
- Periodic training to maintain proficiency in department technology and database systems.
- Participation in customer service, ethics, diversity/sensitivity training, and other professional development to ensure high performance and value-driven operations.
