Job Summary

Under general direction and supervision of up-line personnel, is responsible to operate and maintain complex and specialized automotive, landscape maintenance, snow removal equipment and other equipment and perform general manual labor as directed when not operating or servicing equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Operates a variety of equipment for the purpose of the maintenance, construction, and development of public facilities, properties, structures, walkways, or roadways.
  2. Works a reasonable amount of overtime during winter operations to operate sander/snowplow, motorized and non-motorized snow removal and road treatment equipment.
  3. Performs pre-trip inspections and operator level maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment; makes minor operational and maintenance repairs and services equipment.
  4. Loads and unloads supplies and material.
  5. Maintains oral, written, and digital record of assignments, hours of operation, materials and supplies received and delivered, and other pertinent information relative to the equipment operator.
  6. Operates a skid steer loader and HR-15 mower.
  7. Performs Graiti Removal.
  8. When not engaged in Equipment Operator duties, performs general manual labor as directed.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned by up line personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must possess and maintain a valid RI Driver’s License and RI Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with airbrake endorsement.
  3. Working knowledge of gas and diesel engines and automotive maintenance practices; skill in the operation, operator level maintenance, and servicing of automotive and other equipment.
  4. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  5. Must be able to perform arduous work with assigned equipment often under adverse conditions.
  6. Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.

Training Requirements

Sustainment:

  1. Must maintain a valid State Driver’s License.
  2. Must maintain a State Commercial Driver’s License with airbrake endorsement.

 

The term “limited” means that the successful candidate will perform the job for an undetermined length of time. The position may or may not become permanent.
