Job Summary

Under general supervision of up-line personnel performs a variety of tasks in the repair, maintenance, and alteration of buildings, structures, and equipment; and related work as required.

This position is from 7am – 3:30pm plus overtime as needed and mandatory snow operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Performs rough carpentry work in the alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, scaffolding, forms, wood fixtures, and furniture.
  2. Assists in the performance of skilled hand work in a carpentry shop and operates various tools including, but not limited to power saws, jointers, wood lathes, planers, and various electrical tools.
  3. Assists as a helper in the performance of plumbing, painting, masonry, sheetmetal, roofing, and electrical work if needed.
  4. Cleans, sharpens, and repairs hand and bench tools.
  5. Makes miscellaneous repairs to electrical equipment, locks, door checks, hinges, ladders, and other equipment.
  6. Work is usually done independently but may be performed under direct supervision; may supervise the work of others.
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1.  High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, processes, and materials of one of the trades.
  3. Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  4. Some knowledge of the methods and tools used in the other building trades.
  5. Skill in the use and care of tools and the operation of machines and equipment used in the trade.
  6. Ability to supervise the work of others as appropriate.
  7. Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
