Job Summary
Under supervision of the City Clerk and his/her Deputies performs responsible clerical and secretarial work for the Office of the City Clerk, the City Council, the Board of Contract and Supply, and all other Committees and Commissions as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Does research for the general public.
- Prepares trade name certificates, hospital liens, hunting and fishing licenses.
- Acts as secretary within the City Clerk’s Department to the City Clerk and his/her Deputies.
- Shall perform such duties for the Boards of Contract and Supply including preparing Bid Bonds, Distribution of Votes, and Final Records; prepares documents required for Committees of City Council.
- Answers telephones, directs calls, takes messages.
- Types, files, and does counter work.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent with business courses or equivalent experience.
- Must have data processing ability with a minimum of 45 words per minute.
- Successful completion of Computer Training Level III course within six (6) months of appointment.
- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously.
- Ability to understand and carry out complex written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
Training Requirements
The term “limited” means that the successful candidate will perform the job for an undetermined length of time. The position may or may not become permanent.
