Job Summary

Provides project management and technical implementation of solutions to support the Providence Public Safety Departments’ applications, and public safety network. The position reports to the Chief Information Officer, and works closely with Police, Fire, Telecommunications and Emergency Management Departments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Researches new releases of hardware and software to provide public safety officials with the information necessary for critical, long range planning.
  2. Leads and manages information technology projects throughout their lifecycle in the areas of communication, scheduling, budget, resources, scope, risk, and issues.
  3. Manages and maintains technology that supports public safety systems such as body cameras, staffing and payroll, communications, incident reporting and related functions.
  4. Works effectively with cross functional staff, including IT, other Project Managers, multiple levels of leadership, business partners, and vendors as necessary.
  5. Develops and revises complex RFPs, project plans and budgets, work with stakeholders and team members to understand problems, focus on bringing issues to resolution, and escalate as necessary to meet timelines.
  6. Documents scope of work, cost and time estimates, deliverables, implementation plans, project milestones, progress and related reports
  7. Assembles project teams, assigns individual responsibilities, identifies appropriate resource needs, and develops a schedule to ensure timely completion of interim and final deadlines.
  8. Prepares, organizes and conducts user training for administrators, managers and line staff.
  9. Installs and tests hardware and software upgrades.
  10. Supervises assigned staff.
  11. Provides assistance with other City hardware and software systems and provides desktop support, installation and training, as needed.
