Job Summary
Under the general direction and supervision of up-line personnel assists in the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical work on buildings, structures, and equipment maintained by the Department; and related work as required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Works independently and/or assists the Electrician in the installation, repair, and maintenance of various electrical work
- Performs minor repairs on light, switches, and receptacles.
- Operates bucket truck when needed to assist in repair of lights and wiring.
- Maintains inventory of tools and supplies.
- Inspects job site upon completion of job to ensure that all tools and equipment are accounted for and that electrical systems are working properly.
- Operates sander/snowplow and/or motorized and non-motorized snow removal equipment a directed by up line personnel.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as an electrician or a journeyman electrician and must have a valid and maintain a Journeyman Electrician’s License issued by the Rhode Island State Board of Examiners of Electricians.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques, tools, equipment, and materials used in the electrical trade.
- A working knowledge of the safety codes enforced by the State of Rhode Island.
- Must be able to assist electrician in repair of applicable equipment.
- Must meet all minimum requirements listed in the Laborer job description.
- Must be able to use digital asset inventory and work order system.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job
Training Requirements
Upon Appointment:
- Successful completetion of WorkZone Safety Training within six (6) months of appointment
Sustainment:
- Successful completion of departmental trainings as directed.
- Must maintain a valid Journeyman Electrician’s License issued by the
- Rhode Island State Board of Examiners of Electricians.
The term “limited” means that the successful candidate will perform the job for an undetermined length of time. The position may or may not become permanent.
