Job Summary

Under general supervision of up-line personnel is responsible to supervise and direct the program of maintenance and repair of municipal parking meters; and related work as required

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for directing the program for the installation, repair, and maintenance of all municipal parking meters, meter posts, and attachments.
  1. Disassembles, repairs and reassembles, and rebuilds several types of parking meters from their fundamental parts.
  1. Assigns men to investigate complaints relative to defective parking meters and personally resolves the more difficult problems.
  1. Responsible for the collection and preparation for deposit of funds from parking meters.
  1. Operates card device for auditing collection from parking meters.
  1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school graduate or equivalent.
  1. Knowledge in the methods and materials used in repairing parking meter mechanisms.
  1. Detailed knowledge of the location of municipal parking meters.
  1. Some knowledge of the installation of electronic/” plug and play mechanisms”..
  1. Must be able to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions.
  1. Must be able to maintain accurate records.
  1. Ability to communicate effectively and courteously and establish working relationships with the public.
  1. Skill in the use and care of hand tools including hammer drill; ability to lift to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  1. Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
  1. Must possess a valid State Driver’s License.

 

Training Requirements

  1. Upon Appointment:
  • Successful completion of training on meter operations, maintenance and fund collection within ninety (90) days of appointment
  • Customer Service Training
  • Sexual Harassment, Sensitivity, and Diversity Training
  1. Sustainment
  • Must maintain a valid State Driver’s License.
  • Customer Service Training every 24 months.

The term “limited” means that the successful candidate will perform the job for an undetermined length of time. The position may or may not become permanent.
