Job Summary

Provide project management and technical implementation of solutions related to City IT applications, under the supervision of the City’s Chief Information Officer.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Directly leads and manages ERP system projects throughout lifecycle in the areas of communication, RFP, schedule, budget, resources, scope, risk, and issues.
  2. Responsible for leading Project teams and managing activities associated with Projects that are typically cross-department or organizational entity-wide in scope.
  3. Work effectively with cross functional staff, including IT, other Project Managers, multiple levels of leadership, business partners, and vendors as necessary.
  4. Develop and revise complex Project plans and budgets, work with stakeholders and team members to understand problems, focus on bringing issues to resolution, and escalate as necessary to meet timelines.
  5. Document scope of work, cost and time estimates, deliverables, implementation plans, project milestones, progress and related reports
  6. Responsible for assembling the Project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resource needs, and developing a schedule to ensure timely completion of Project and meeting interim deadlines of Project.
  7. Prioritize workload to keep Projects on track.
  8. Responsible for understanding problems, bringing issues to resolution, and escalating as necessary to meet timelines.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Minimum of Associates Degree from accredited college/university or equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum of seven (7) years experience working in a computing environment similar in size and complexity to the City of Providence.
  3. Knowledge of a range of computer operating systems/applications including mainstream ERP systems, and other tools and applications as determined by City IT director/CIO.
  4. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  5. Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.
  6. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  7. Ability to provide technical assistance and training to end users. Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.
  8. Work with users requires interpersonal skills.
  9. Capable of providing comprehensive training.
  10. Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
