Job Summary

Under the supervision of up-line management, performs manual labor and operates a forklift in executing duties; works in a stockroom containing parts and supplies; may be required to plan and execute inventories and keep inventory records; works under general supervision with assignments given in a broad outline, performs related work as required.  

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Operates and maintains a stockroom containing parts, tools, and supplies. Participates in annual inventory.
  2. Receives, inspects, and records mechanical equipment, parts, tools, and other supplies; marks the inventory items.
  3. Selects the proper location for item storage to ensure easy accessibility. Cleans all work and storage areas.
  4. Responsible for issuing, distributing, receiving and records all stock and supplies. (Including off site stock/locations)
  5. Keeps a daily check on the status of inventory in order to replace depleted items in a timely manner. Establish reorder points.
  6. Delivers items to various office locations and external locations as it pertains to deliveries of supplies to vendors.
  7. Operates a forklift in a safe and responsible manner and must maintain proper certification for operating a forklift.
  8. Track and issue material using a bar code system.
  9. Reconciles work orders.
  10. Perform all shipping related duties including coordinate, package, ship and track and all related paperwork.
  11. Monitors daily fuel levers, prepares proper documentation.
  12. Serves as a backup for facilities maintenance personnel.
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  14. Adheres to all Providence Water safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  1.  High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a stockroom environment.
  3. Must possess a license to operate a forklift.
  4. Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License and is responsible to maintain all vehicles maintenance logs.
  5. Working knowledge of computers and computer software relative to the work performed.
  6. Thorough knowledge of stock ordering and handling, and related record-keeping and inventory work; familiarity with the Principles of Materials Requirement Planning (MRP).
  7. A familiarity with automotive, meters, meter supplies, and transmission and distribution parts and supplies.
  8. A familiarity with general office procedures.
  9. Ability to maintain records and prepare detailed reports.
  10. Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions.
  11. Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
  12. Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.

Training Requirements

Upon Appointment:  

  • Customer Service Training
  • Sexual Harassment, Sensitivity, and Diversity Training
  • Must have successfully completed Basic Computer Training prior to appointment and expected to complete Intermediate Computer Training within six (6) months of appointment
  • Must become computer proficient in asset management system, Bar Code System, and other systems necessary to perform the duties assigned

Sustainment:

  • Participation in customer service training every 24 months
  • Must maintain a valid State Driver’s License
  • Must maintain a license to operate a forklift

The term “limited” means that the successful candidate will perform the job for an undetermined length of time. The position may or may not become permanent.
