Job Summary

Under direct supervision of the Director of Public Property, Manager of Facilities & Operations, or designee, is responsible for all land owned by the City that does not come under the jurisdiction of the Department of Parks, responsible for the overall supervision of the maintenance, planning design, construction, alterations, and repairs to all city property under the jurisdiction of the Department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Makes recommendations of such rules, regulations, and performance standards necessary to carry out the responsibilities imposed upon the Department.
  1. Supervises Department personnel in performing custodial, maintenance, and repair functions.
  1. Oversees vendors assigned to perform maintenance and repairs to all City properties and buildings.
  1. Assists the Manager of Facilities in supervising the staff of the Department office, and mail room; supervises subordinate workers performing custodial, maintenance, and repair function.
  1. Assists the Manager of Facilities in maintaining a current inventory of all moveable equipment belonging to the City.
  1. Performs skilled work and other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Associate Degree in a business related field, experience in facilities management, or a combination of the both.
  1. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in varied responsible management positions.
  1. Experience relating to planning, development, and organizational operations. Experience in facilities management.
  1. Basic knowledge and understanding of carpentry, electrical, HVAC, & plumbing trades.
  1. Experience in budget forecasting and/or budget administration.
  1. Knowledge of inventory control.
  1. Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain good relations with the general public, governmental agencies, community organizations, business, and industry.
  1. Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
