Job Summary

This role will support the daily operations at City Center Rink, including night and weekend facility management, programming and events. The position will also support programming at other downtown parks including but not limited to Burnside Park, Biltmore Park, & the Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Bridge, as well as, providing a supporting role during the Summer Food Program and afterschool CACFP program as needed. The role is to coordinate with other city departments on communications, including interdepartmental memos, press releases and public notices regarding programming at the rink, surrounding parks, and other City of Providence events. As well as maintain, execute, and manage new and existing programming /events, in addition to oversite and management designated programming at The Providence Rink and additional facilities. This position will work night and weekend shifts during programming.

The position will report to the City Center Manager. The funding for the position will be paid from the City Center revolving fund. Hours worked for CACFP will be charged to the Summer Food Service Program budget.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leadership and training of staff (Assistant Managers, Ticket Sellers, Skate Hosts)
  • Manage day-to-day work order management for City Center Rink
  • Event, facility and programming project management
  • Develop written content for website, all newsletters, communications, grants and other designated written content
  • Develop social media plan and lead social media content
  • Fully proficient in event management and event management software
  • Develop and maintain new and existing events/programming
  • Create community engagement through local events/programming
  • Booking, communication and coordinating with featured performers and artists
  • Upkeep and deployment of audio and visual equipment
  • Develop and execute promotion of events and programming
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnership opportunities through local collaboration
  • Liaison between The Providence Rink and media outlets
  • Monitor and manage ticket sales
  • Monthly reporting
  • Stage/Entertainment Management and book and communicate with artists
  • Attend all State training for Summer Food Service and after-school feeding programs
  • Assist with meal count forms daily from all sites and enter information into spreadsheets to ensure the program is compliant with all Federal regulations for reimbursement requests and annual audit of the program
  • Work simultaneously at the City Center and CACFP programs
  • Additional assigned tasks

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in event management, sport management, marketing, business administration or relevant degree.
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Experience in planning, developing, executing, and managing programming/events
  • Experience managing and training staff
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to find effective creative solutions under pressure and time constraints
  • Proficient in computer and technology skills
  • High-level of written communication skill (email, newsletters, captions, presentations, etc.)
  • Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job
