Job Summary
Greets and directs visitors at Botanical Center and gardens of Roger Williams Park.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greets visitors upon arrival and set the tone for their visit by creating an inviting environment with proper signage and a friendly demeanor.
- Sells tickets and records sales information:
- Coordinates with appropriate Botanical and Park staff to ensure proper accounting procedures.
- Keeps daily record of sales and summarizes in a monthly report using POS software.
- Monitors entry gate to account for all visitors.
- Communicates logistics of the facility and answer visitor questions, provide maps and access to first aid supplies.
- Promotes programs and events offered by the Botanical Center and partner organizations.
- Describes details of the event and provides up-to-date flyers, informational handouts, maps, and contact information for each event where applicable.
- Promotes Edible Forest and Community Garden.
- Provides support in the execution of programs and events by the Botanical Center and partner organizations.
- Reproduces and distribute support documents for programs and events (i.e. maps, flyers, etc.)
- Collects or distributes items (i.e. canned goods) during special events.
- Directs vendors and guests for private events.
- Collects visitors’ contact information or registration information; records results of surveys or evaluation forms.
- Distributes promotional materials.
- Fields questions, comments, and concerns of visitors at the RWP Park and the Botanical Center.
- Keeps current, maintains, and updates operating times and admission prices for all other concessions in RWP
- Hands out RWP maps and give detailed directions to attractions, paths, monuments, sculptures, and entrances and exits to the Park.
- Executes proper opening and closing operations.
- Performs all other duties and jobs as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience providing friendly customer service and/or as a sales representative.
- Ability to keep accurate records and manage cash.
- Ability to provide a variety of information with courtesy and enthusiasm.
- Familiarity with POS software programs as well as Microsoft Excel and Office.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
